Founded in 1970, Shanley's Television-Appliance Center is a family-oriented appliance store serving Ottawa, IL, and surrounding communities, including Sheridan, Streator, Mendota, Peru, Spring Valley, Dixon, and Morris. We specialize in servicing what we sell, offering full delivery and haul-away services. Our wide selection includes deep freezers, dryers, fridges, mattresses, microwaves, stacked units, washers, and a comprehensive parts department. I had waited and waited to find the best deal on a gas stove. The price needed to be reasonable and include delivery, installation, the removal of my old stove and possible repairs if something were to go wrong. I wanted something not too basic but not too many bells and whistles. I looked at big box stores, I felt what was offered did not make me feel secure in my purchase as far as instillation and repair concerns. I walked into Shanley's in Ottawa Illinois and immediately was greeted by Leslie. She was far from pushy, she was welcoming and empathetic to my situation and needs. Her first question was, "what was it about my old stove that I did not like?" From there she was simply amazing, her knowledge of her products was exemplary. She continued to tell me about the things that I never considered when looking at other store options, for example I did not know I needed a new gas hose going from the stove itself to my gas hookup, Leslie continued to inform me that they have their own service department in house, not a 3rd party contracted out source but THEIR OWN SERVICE DEPT. That made my decision for me. Today Bill and Matt came out and installed my beautiful stove. They were careful, friendly and professional. They gave me information as to what to do upon first start up of the stove. These men do this everyday, with that being said, I know I can confidently use my stove and know that it will operate correctly and safely because of the care they took to hook up the gas line. THANK YOU LESLIE, BILL AND MATT, I WILL HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU TO EVERYONE!!!! HOME DEPOT AND OTHER STORES PALE IN COMMPARISON TO YOU.!!!!!

Great supporting a locally owned family business. Mike Shanley has always been very good to my parents, and my parents have been loyal customers for at least 45 years. They purchased many TVs from them, the most recent was an LG TV from 2020. Unfortunately, the TV's screen suddenly went black one day, and the audio remained. I did as much troubleshooting as I could after doing a search online, and came up with nothing. I called Shanley's and they transferred me to Steve who had been working there for over 40 years as a TV repairman. I explained to Steve what was happening, and he was very professional and gave me some info and advice. Unfortunately the TV's backlight probably went out is what he assumed. He explained the part and labor would cost as much or more than a new TV. He also said they don't do TV repairs anymore, that is a thing of the past now due to the way TVs are built. I figured we would have to bite the bullet and get a new TV. I was so impressed with the conversation with Steve that my mother and I went to Shanley's right away to buy a replacement TV. We met Steve and were given the most friendly and professional customer service. We decided to purchase two new TVs as the other one was very old and on its way out. Shanley's will deliver for a flat fee and they will take your old TV away and recycle for $80 per TV. The TVs weren't working anyway so might as well have them properly recycled. We had our TVs delivered by Matt and Bill, who were very pleasant and absolute gentlemen. Matt connected our TV to our Wifi and got the channels all set up. Bill set up one of the TVs and we realized the TV was not quite large enough for the TV stand (we should have gotten a larger one). He called Mike the owner, who agreed to let us send the small TV back with the guys and we would buy a larger set. We went back and ordered a larger size, and it will be delivered next week. Overall very pleased with our experience. Mike is super nice, and (I think his name was Johnny) the guy who was at the desk today was very friendly and chatty. Don't go to the big box stores to get your appliances, support local and go here. You will get personal service and delivery &setup with Shanley's -- will you get that with a big box store? I doubt it!
